Marketplace Fairness Coalition Issues Statement On South Dakota Supreme Court Ruling
September 14, 2017
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, in response to the decision of the Supreme Court of South Dakota in the matter of South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. et. al., the Marketplace Fairness Coalition issued the following statement:
"While this decision by South Dakota's Supreme Court is another step in the process of overturning the Quill precedent, we continue to believe that the best option is for Congress to solve the online sales tax loophole. A patchwork of state and local laws has emerged, and businesses and communities need a federal solution that implements a simpler standard. That means passing e-fairness legislation that will provide parity at the point of sale like the Marketplace Fairness Act in the Senate and the Remote Transactions Parity Act in the House."
